Scroll-Flanked Skull Headstone

The Scroll-Flanked Skull Headstone combines the familiar proportions of a traditional stone memorial with an unmistakably macabre centrepiece. A rounded arch rises above the main slab, framed by carved scrolls that curl outward from each upper shoulder. At the centre, a human skull projects from a recessed panel, giving the monument a strong focal point without the need for elaborate surrounding ornamentation.

The headstone sits on a low plinth, while pitted stone surfaces and fine cracks suggest long exposure to rain, frost and neglect.
